HSBC Paris 7s: Fiji thumps England 52-14

FIJI Airways Fiji 7s team looked sharp running riot over England to win their first pool match 52-14 at the HSBC Paris 7s.

With eight tries from eight different try scorers in the 14 minutes, Fiji looked good with offloads on point leaving the English gasping in their wake.

Forward Josua Vakurinabuli started Fiji’s onslaught barely a minute into the match.

Waisea Nacuqu converted from the sideline to give Fiji the extra two points.

Fiji’s other tries in the first half came from super rookie Meli Derenalagi, and Sevuloni Mocenacagi. Nacuqu only missed one conversion.

England replied through Ben Harris and was able to convert it to give them seven points.

However, Nacuqu topped up a sterling performance in the first half with a try of his own to give Fiji a 26-7 lead at half time.

Fiji led 26-7 at the breather.

The second half was a notch up with  Fiji running in another four tries, of which three were converted. The try scorers were Napolioni Bolaca, Alasio Naduva, Asaeli Tuivuaka and Apenisa Cakaubalavu.

England’s points in the second half came from a James Rodwell try which was converted.

Fiji meets Ireland in its second pool match at 2.16am Fiji time.
