Reigning Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong champions Fiji will face New Zealand, Russia and Samoa in Pool A, arriving at the seventh round of the world series in second place overall.
The Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team won two of the past three tournaments and sit on 101 points overall, eight points behind leaders South Africa.
Gareth Baber’s side will enter Hong Kong on a high following their cup win in Vancouver last month, beating Kenya 31-12 in the final.
In Pool B, Kenya join Sydney sevens champions Australia, Spain and Canada.
In Pool C, South Africa will be chasing their second tournament win of the series and join England, Scotland and 16th team South Korea.
Las Vegas winners USA join Argentina, Wales and France in Pool D.
Hong Kong will also play host to the annual series qualifier, a 12-team tournament taking part on April 6-7 with the winner being promoted to the world series. Last year Spain won the competition beating Germany 12-7.
In Pool E, former cores series team Japan will face Uganda, Chile and Georgia.
In Pool F, Papua New Guinea, who recently competed on the world series for two events as an invitational side, face Germany, hosts Hong Kong and Zimbabwe. Pool G, Ireland will play Uruguay, another team who recently competed on the world series for two events, Jamaica and the Cook Islands.
Women series qualifier
In its second year at Hong Kong, the World Rugby Women’s Sevens qualifier replicates the men’s tournament model, with the winner being promoted to the world series. Last year Japan beat South Africa 22-10 to secure core status.
In Pool A, South Africa will start their campaign against Kenya, Papua New Guinea and Mexico. In Pool B, Brazil face China, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. Pool C will be contested by Wales, Belgium, Argentina and Poland.
