LOFTUS St in Suva was abuzz with people yesterday as many turned up to take advantage of the monthly ROC market.

Among the vendors were members of the Mata dance group who were selling food to fundraise for their trip to New Zealand in April.

Group choreographer Tevita Tobeyaweni said they were fundraising to collect funds to represent Fiji at the Hip Hop International South Pacific Islands competition in Auckland.

“Our group consists of dancers from around Fiji aged between 13 and 25 years of age.

“Fiji was invited to take part in this competition. It is the first time we are going to perform there,” Mr Tobeyaweni said.

“Over the past few months, we have been fundraising to send 20 dancers to New Zealand.”

The group became part of the ROC market last month. “The response has been tremendous.”

The group aims to raise $100,000.
