A FORMER Police Constable charged with one count of rape has been further remanded by the High Court in Suva.
It is alleged that the accused raped his 17-year-old niece sometime in July 2017, in Nausori.
State lawyer Eoghan Samisoni objected to the accused’s bail application on the grounds that it was a domestic violence-related offence.
Judge Justice Chamath Morais said being a Police office, the accused was supposed to be a law abiding citizen.
The accused has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Defence lawyer Barbara Malimali informed the court that they were denying all the allegations.
The case has been adjourned to December 3 for the bail ruling.
