ROADING infrastructure company Higgins Group Holdings Limited has opened its newly-refurbished depot in Tavua.

And the opening of this facility has now seen the number of staff at the facility increased from three to 19.

The group has just begun the new roading corridor maintenance contract covering the northern part of Viti Levu, that includes the towns Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki.

Maintenance engineer Adam Lyall said the team had settled in and were working well together.

“We have pulled together some of the best local maintenance staff in the Western Division to put a real focus on Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki and surrounding regions,” Mr Lyall was quoted saying in a statement issued by the company today.

“Our focus is to continue improving the roads for the travelling public whilst giving the Fijian people the best possible value for money and expertise.”

Mr Lyall said the experienced Higgins team had the technology, vision and tools to support the Fiji Roads Authority in maintaining a sustainable roading network for the longer term.

He said the company also had specialised systems that provided top-level technology planning and support for Fijian authorities in times of emergency.

“Higgins has learnt much from natural disasters and major weather events in New Zealand and aim to bring that capability to assist the FRA when required.”
