THE family of victorious Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team new find Ratu Meli Derenalagi are ready to welcome home the young gladiator in style as the team returns today from the first leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
Ratu Meli helped the team win the Cape Town 7s in South Africa on Monday morning beating USA in the final.
“Plans are underway for something special for the young warrior,” said cousin Seini Derenalagi.
“The welcome entourage will begin at the airport and will end with a feast back at home,” she said yesterday.
The lanky prop forward and members of the Fiji sevens team are expected to land at Nadi International Airport this afternoon where they will be greeted by family members.
Seini said the victory welcome party for young Ratu Meli will continue at his family’s residence in Nawaka, Nadi also known for providing many past legendary names in the sport of rugby.
The Fiji sevens team is expected to arrive at Nadi International Airport at 4pm today.
