Herons create upset

THE Navatulevu Herons created a major upset in the Vodafone Cup Nadi Aviators Rugby League competition after upsetting the Sabeto Roosters 18-16 at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday.
The former Roosters captained, Viliame Rakuli, with the service of Roger Qoro put on a grand show leading 12-0 at half time.
However, the Herons came back in the second half with new inclusion Samu Waqa scoring a brace of tries.
The Roosters opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a penalty through Qoro.
Kolinio Radrovi scored a try for the Rooster before half time.
In the second spell, Kavetini Varo kicked two consecutive penalties to get the Herons on board.
Sireli Latidreti added more points for the Roosters with a try in the 66 minute.
However, with the backing of the crowd the Herons got back on track with new inclusion Samu Waqa scoring a brace of tries which was converted by Waqa, who nailed the coffin in the Rabbitohs box with a late penalty.
Nadi Aviators president Joe Gray said they shifted the competition to Lautoka because of the unavailability of the grounds in their host district.
Gray said two more rounds of the competition was remaining.
