Help for netball coach

THE NetGo Fiji program in partnership with Netball New Zealand has helped 37 teachers qualified with coaching accreditations last weekend at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

“As many as 37 teachers from all over Fiji received their Oceania Foundation Coaching Accreditation certificate after a two-day session at the ANZ Stadium,” said Netball Fiji PSP country co-ordinator Unaisi Rokoura.

“A remarkable achievement as we enable and empower teachers around the country to be able to teach and coach netball in their various schools to a certain standard,” Rokoura said in most schools teachers were the coaches of school teams.

“It is hard to get the best out of your teams when the teachers and coaches themselves are inadequately prepared.”

Rokoura says that grassroots netball didn’t begin with the clubs but with the teachers themselves and this was a step in the right direction.

“What these teachers have learnt over the weekend and with the certificates they have gained, they can now take control of their teams and train them with confidence now that they themselves are prepared properly.”

Another workshop is planned to start tomorrow in Lautoka to cater for teachers in the Western Division.
