An advisory councillor form Nabilo in Dreketi, Vanua Levu, is urging people to help each other as the recovery process begins in Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa affected areas.

Ashika Devi said her family had taken refuge at the Fiji Rice mill property and were shocked to find their home destroyed the next day. “I never thought I would live in a shed,” she said.

“I thought I had a peaceful life, had a house and would enjoy my life with my family.

“And I am glad that I am healthy at this stage and can take care of myself and move forward with my life.

“I have been telling all the people here to help each other.”

Ms Devi said she would have to build a totally new house.

“I have nothing left here. Everything is damaged and gone.”
