Heineken Cup will be live on TV

Sky Pacific has announced the live broadcast of selected weekly matches from the upcoming Heineken Champions Cup this season.

The Champions Cup will once again be competed for by the 24 elite clubs in two pools of 12 with eight representatives from each of Europe’s leading professional leagues.

Digicel Fiji chief executive officer Farid Mohammed said the Champions Cup was one of the most prestigious rugby union tournaments featuring many of the best players in the world and we’re sure our viewers will be delighted to see it returning to Sky Pacific from next week.

“We have a massive reputation for coverage and commitment to rugby and the return of Europe’s elite club competition in addition to the HSBC World Rugby 7s Series this month and in the New Year is great news for our viewers,” he said.

Back to back historic winners of the Champions Cup and the French Top 14 titles last season, Toulouse, will begin the defense of their European title when they travel to face Cardiff on December 12.

The top eight clubs from each pool will qualify for the knockout stage which will consist of a Round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, and the final in Marseille on 29th May 2022.

Sky Pacific has planned it’s weekly broadcast focusing on Fijian players and their European club sides Flying Fijians Samuel Matavesi, Apisalome Ratuniyarawa and Frank Lomani’s Northampton Saints face Racing 92 on Saturday, December 11 at 8am while Fiji’s 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games gold medallist Semi Radradra and his Bath side takes on the Scarlets on Sunday, December 12 at 5.30am.
