Sea water crashed across a stretch of road on the Queens Rd at Vatukarasa in Sigatoka yesterday, hours after the Fiji Meteorological Service issued a heavy swell warning for the area.

The warning was in place for coastal areas from Natadola through Coral Coast and Pacific Harbour.

Southern coastal areas of Beqa, Kadavu and Vatulele were also under a heavy swell warning.

Fiji Met said a high-pressure system to the far southwest is generating and directing heavy swells over the southwestern parts of the country.

“Expect sea flooding especially during high tides with swell heights of up to 4 metres.”
