SENIOR sous chef Nicholos Jordon of the Malamala Beach Club believes that simple dishes without the use of excessive oils are ideal for this festive season.

Mr Jordon with Courts junior chef Calvin Prasad conducted a Philips cooking demonstration at the Courts Mega Store in Samabula on Saturday.

He said the ideal way to cook a fish was to steam it.

“Battered fish and chips is battered with flour and gluten once it gets into your body it’s a bit harder to digest and to come out basically so it’s better to grill it,” Mr Jordon said.

He said another healthier option would be to use a Philip’s air fryer as it does not use any oil.

In a statement Courts said the event itself was done to raise awareness on non-communicable disease.

“If only we can control that one factor, we should be able to push NCD out as a national resolution, with Philips appliances we cane make healthy meals fast, affordable and tasty at home,” Courts stated.
