Health Promoting Schools: Significant change in student health

WITH the intervention of Health Promoting Schools, there has been a significant change in the overall health of students, says Education Officer, Cakaudrove, Madhu Swami.

Four schools in Savusavu were recognised for its efforts in progressing their Health Promoting Schools initiatives today.

Nabua Primary School, Vaturova/Koroalau Secondary School, Vanuavou Primary School, Vunisalusalu Primary School, and Kasavu Primary School were presented with Bronze-level awards in Savusavu.

Mr Swami said the changes were noted by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services team after they conducted follow-up school inspections.

The Health Promoting Schools project is led by the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, with funding by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The World Health Organization has been providing technical support.
