The life of health workers has never been compromised, says Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.
He said the safety of health workers, especially Fiji’s health frontline workers during this COVID-19 period was a top priority.
Dr Waqainabete said this was why the ministry worked to ensure that frontlines were given proper protection equipment (PPE) and also training.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services received over $700,000 worth of medical supplies from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
During the handover, Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said Government would continue to display resilience during this pandemic and at the same time continue to work hard through remodeling its framework to reach the unreachable.
“We continue to thank WHO for their never ending support to the Fijian Government and especially with this pathway to economic recovery and keeping everyone safe,” Dr Waqainabete said.
The donated medical supplies include surgical masks, KN95 masks, face shields, protective goggles and isolation gowns to support frontliners.
