WOMEN market vendors at the Suva Municipal Market welcomed the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle yesterday with songs and cheers.

A hyped crowd stood in front of the market all dressed in blue with wigs and flags waiting to catch a glimpse of the Duchess.

Veronika Dinaulu, who has been a vendor for the past 15 years, said they were excited when they realised that she was going to visit them.

“All the women are here so hyped and ready to welcome the Duchess of Sussex, we’ve all decided to wear our Fiji T-shirts with our tekiteki to await her arrival.”

She said the women had been preparing for her visit for a while and were all eager to wave and sing to her. Upon arriving at the market, the Duchess took out a few minutes to greet the women then took a 10-minute tour of the market before departing.
