Fiji is expected to start feeling the effects of Tropical Cyclone Harold by tomorrow morning.

According to the Nadi Meteorological Service, a tropical cyclone alert remains in force for Yasawa and Mamnuca Group, Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau Group.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the Yasawa and Mamnuca groups, Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, and is also now in force for the rest of the Fiji Group.

According to the weather office, TC Harold was located about 850km West of Nadi and was moving East-southeastward at about 18km per hour.

On its current track, TC Harold is expected to pass just south of Kadavu tomorrow before moving towards the Southern Lau Group.

Though the centre will remain over open waters, the weather office says active rain bands, damaging gale force winds and high seas associated with TC Harold will come our way.

The weather office has also warned that localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
