Hamilton Police investigate bank robbery

Update: 3:45PM HAMILTON: POLICE in Hamilton are investigating the robbery of the ASB Bank located in the Base Shopping Centre.

At around 12.25pm today, a man entered the bank, disguised with a black wig and black-rimmed glasses.

Police said the man presented a teller with a note advising he had a pistol and demanded a sum of cash while threatening both the teller and others in the bank.

“The man took a sum of cash before leaving the bank and departing in a blue Chevrolet Blazer 4WD,” New Zealand Police said.

The suspect is described as Caucasian with an athletic build.

Anyone with information on the man, or the car used in the robbery (pictured), are advised to contact Detective Sergeant Scott Neilson at Hamilton Police on 07 858 6200.
