NAMAKA is considered one of the biggest suburbs situated in Nadi because of its residential area and business centre.
Namaka stands out from the main town of Nadi because of the facilities it has located within its vicinity.
The Nadi International Airport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF), the Fiji National University (Nadi campus) and the Fiji Meteorological Service station act as a backdrop for Namaka while its business centre is located on the heart of the suburb.
The headquarters for Tourism Fiji is situated in Namaka at the Colonial Plaza, making it accessible for visitors who come through the international airport to get detailed information about the country.
For its business centre, it has various shopping plazas that have supermarkets, retail outlets, restaurants, bank outlets, pharmacies and medical clinics.
For residential areas Namaka covers a big area from Waqadra and CAAF compound to the Votualevu junction that divides Votualevu, Namaka, and the Nadi back road.
Many people would prefer living in Namaka because of its easy accessibility to the main road (Queens Rd), supermarkets, market, schools, institutions, apartments, travel agencies, fitness centres and nightclubs (for those who like to enjoy the night life).
Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry secretary and public relations officer Shalendra Prasad said it was good to see developments occurring in Namaka in terms of the four-lane road upgrade, new businesses and investments.
Mr Prasad said it was great to see the rate in which Nadi, particularly Namaka and Martintar, was growing today.
A Chinese company known as Farer Train and Tours will attract a lot of tourists to Namaka as it’s located close to the Nadi International Airport where the train tour begins.
