Greens ruled out

THE proposed Green Party has been dissolved and all its assets forfeited to the State following a High Court order on Friday.

This was confirmed yesterday by proposed party leader and former cabinet minister Bernadette Rounds-Ganilau yesterday. The decision to deregister the proposed party was made following its failure to meet the requirements of the Political Parties Decree.

“The assets have been taken by State — there wasn’t much. We still had savings that we had from 2008. We didn’t buy any property which was good,” she said.

Mrs Rounds-Ganilau said she was happy with the decision and it was time to move on. The proposed party was formed in November 2008 and followed principles of ecological wisdom, social justice and non-violence, participatory democracy and sustainability.
