This year the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) will take place in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12, 2021. The focus: tackling the climate emergency, our planet’s biggest threat. The role of finance will be a central focus of discussion, with momentum building across green finance in recent years. Today, initiatives like the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero now represent 160 firms, together responsible for assets in excess of $70 trillion.

Getting to net zero – producing less carbon than we take out of the atmosphere – demands a transformation of the entire economy. It requires huge investment from public and private capital, which presents an enormous financial opportunity. COP26 is a pivotal moment to harness this opportunity through collaboration, across sectors and geographies, to identify and unlock barriers to the flow of capital into net zero, climate resilient economies.

Hosted by the City of London Corporation and the Green Finance Institute, the 2021 Green Horizon Summit at COP26, running November 2 through November 11, will focus on how we can mobilise private capital in the transition to net zero. Through five days of virtual sessions and action-oriented discussion, speakers and attendees will work together to address the big challenges we face across finance:

· How can we finance transition and growth and ensure that capital generates economic and job growth?

· How can we build a global playbook that includes risk management, market frameworks, and regulatory standards?

· How can we price carbon and nature including moving towards a meaningful carbon price globally?

· How can we mobilise investment into emerging and developing economies?

Supported by our 25 partners – including Aon, BlackRock, EY, NatWest Group, Phoenix Group, the London Stock Exchange Group and Standard Chartered – GHS@COP26 will be the go-to platform for financial and professional services during COP26.
