Government’s discussions and consultations with various sectors of the economy will help Fiji map a way through the economic challenges posed by COVID-19.

This, according to Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, Faiyaz Koya in his maiden speech in Parliament this morning.

He said in-depth discussions have been held with numerous organisations including the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation, Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association and others..

Mr Koya said, so far, the discussions have led to the development of an economic recovery strategy and among the strategies recommended are diversification of the economy, increased emphasis on manufacturing, values chains and market access – especially in the tourism bubbles being discussed.
