GOVERNMENT will not tolerate any abuse of funds, especially when it was given to build low cost housing for Fijians living in the vicinity.

Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Housing and Community Development Premila Kumar stressed this at a  press conference today.

“Those found engaged in such activity will face the full brunt of the law,” Ms Kumar said.

She said Government is committed to the welfare of Fijians and will continuously look at ways to help the people of Fiji.

Meanwhile Government has taken over the Lagilagi Housing project and will ensure all Fijians are assisted.

This is after complaints were received from residents of Jittu Estate about Peoples Community Network’s (PCN) failure to provide housing at the Lagilagi low-cost housing project.

The Ministry also received a comprehensive 635-page report regarding the Lagilagi Housing investigation conducted by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC).
