PLAYERS who are willing to be part of the Vodafone Under 20 team will be gauged by their positions.

This was revealed to this newspaper by the team’s coach Kele Leawere yesterday.

He said most players had proven themselves in past training sessions.

And with the trials yesterday, Leawere was happy with how the boys had shown interest.

“We gauge the players by their position, for example – for the hooker, we are looking for a person that can throw in the line outs and the scrums but also can carry the ball, to be an all-round player,” he said.

Leawere said they would later name their 50-member extended squad to prepare them for Oceania under 20 competition in April.

He said some would also be part of the Warriors team in March next year.

“We have given a chance for the local players to prove themselves and the overseas-based players will come in if they are needed.”
