“I could be on Kadavu for all anybody knows.” Convicted lawyer Aman Ravindra-Singh said this when contacted by The Fiji Times yesterday.

The rumour mill went into overdrive when the Lautoka-based lawyer failed to appear in court on Monday where he was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment by the High Court in Suva for contempt of court when he failed to comply with orders issued in the case brought against him by Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

A bench warrant was also issued against him. Social media posts have placed him either in Australia or New Zealand.

Mr Ravindra-Singh said he would release a statement tomorrow and would not make any further comments.

Questions sent to police yesterday on whether they were looking into his whereabouts and queries sent to Mr Sayed-Khaiyum on whether he knew where Mr Ravindra-Singh was and his position on the possibility of extradition to Fiji remain unanswered.
