A Tavua man who stole two billy goats was jailed for 38 days by the Tavua Magistrates Court.
Petero Ratoto stole the two goats on February 2 from Melaia Vouvou who lives at Tagitagi, Tavua.
The goats were worth $80 each and Mr Ratoto sold them for $55 each. “You sold the goats and you caused a loss to a third-party buyer,” said Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili.
“I accept the loss to be $110 or $55 for each goat as you have admitted in your police caution interview.”
Mr Fotofili ordered that 20 days of his sentence be suspended for two years, noting that Ratoto served 4 months and 17 days in remand.
