Intermittent rain and a Mineral Resources Department advisory to stay away from showers because of acid rain concerns linked to a Tongan volcano did not deter Fijians from enjoying picnics to mark Christmas and Boxing Day.

The Fiji Times crew captured Fijians frolicking at the beach in Deuba, Nasilai and Lomolomo in Lautoka.

Many said after months of COVID-19 movement restrictions, they felt the need to gather with loved ones and to celebrate.
