CHANDRA Sen is one step closer to being reunited with his two daughters in Australia after getting the AstraZeneca COVID-19 jab yesterday.

The 81-year-old Lautoka resident was among more than 150 people who were vaccinated in Lautoka.

Mr Sen, a stroke patient, said he pushed to get the jab when he heard the second batch was for Fijians with some underlying medical conditions.

“Get vaccinated and be safe,” he said.

“Since COVID-19 hit us last year, I have been following the news and today I came to register and luckily got vaccinated at the same time.

“Please come and register and be vaccinated.

“It is not painful; this will prevent every Fijian from getting COVID-19.”

Mr Sen said he hoped the mass vaccination program would allow the opening of international borders so he could be reunited with his two daughters in Sydney.

Members of the disciplined forces in the Western Division were also vaccinated yesterday.
