ITaukei Affairs Minister Ifereimi Vasu says he agrees with having people of other races being represented at the Great Council of Chiefs meetings.
He said to include people from different ethnic groups was the way forward in a modern Fiji.
“We will look at views from the outcomes of the consultation conducted by the GCC review team; because we want everyone to be heard and contribute to the economy of the nation and join hands in how we can take this country forward,” Mr Vasu said.
However, in terms of women representation, Mr Vasu said it was not up to him.
“I don’t have the authority to say who should become a member of the GCC.
“Hopefully the review team can pick that up from the Soqosoqo Vakamarama or youths.”
He said the two women who were members of the GCC were the Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa, and Adi Finau Tabakaucoro. || vasus take || va su
