RATU Sukuna Memorial School athletes abided by their inter-house competition theme as ‘Faster, Further and Higher’ to boost them through this year’s athletics competitions.

Their journey started with their field and the tracks events at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

The head of the PEMAC Department, Jane Danford said discipline on and off the field would contribute to the success of their team.

“We are using the points system in our inter-house and that covers the training for athletes, the teachers’ attendance to their houses and also consistency before the main events. We started off last week in school with our field events,” Danford said.

“Some of our athletes have left the school and again we have some new talents coming in and they’ve proven that they have what it takes to compete in the zone and Coca-Cola Games.”

Focused on the inter-house competition theme, athletes of RSMS competed at the ANZ Stadium believing they will be a team to beat at the zone competition.

“Our theme, we used faster in relation to our sprints and long distance athletes focused on being the fastest in the track. Further is linked with our long jump, shotput, javelin and discus athletes and higher relates to our high jump athletes to aim for the highest bar,” she said.

Meanwhile the respective houses that competed were Uluiqalau, Nakauvadra, Seatura and Korobasaga.
