There is renewed hope for the seventy students of Galoa Island Primary School who will be returning to school after the successful rehabilitation works carried out by the Australian Defence Force and the Royal Fiji Military Forces.

Rehabilitation works started on December 31st with the removal of debris from the school premises. With a turnaround time of about two weeks, two classrooms and an administration office was constructed from the foundation of a building which remained unscathed from STC Yasa.

The hostel building and it’s kitchen was fully repaired as well. Desks and chairs were also donated by Australian Aid.

In addition to assisting damaged schools, HMAS Adelaide has delivered emergency shelters, hygiene packs, kitchen kits and UNICEF supplies to impacted communities in the North.
