FULTON Hogan Hiways Taunovo depot will now oversee road repairs and maintenance in the Serua, Namosi and parts of the Rewa provinces.
In a statement released this afternoon, the company said the facility, which was formerly the property of the Public Works Department (PWD), had access to four quarries, with two located in Waiyanitu, one in Mau and the fourth in Korovisilou.
It stated that the depot – located 51km West of Suva – was now staffed by 17 FHH employees; and has seven buildings: office, storeroom, garage, workmen’s tool shed, gate security booth, depot supervisor’s quarters, and a dormitory for employees when required.
The depot was built in 1935 following the construction of the Queens Road, which was then an unsealed network.
