The Fiji Sugar Corporation has reinstated the salaries of all workers, except for CEO Graham Clark and some other senior executives who have opted to remain on a voluntary 15 per cent salary cut.

The company had implemented a pay cut for all employees on April 14 as a cost cutting measure with 15 per cent pay cut for executive management, 7.5 per cent for staff officers and 5 per cent for all non-staff employees.

Mr Clark told The Fiji Times pay had been reinstated with exceptions.

“Pay cuts for senior executives remain on a voluntary basis and certain have elected to maintain the pay cut, including the CEO,” he said.

He said a review was done “taking stock of employee welfare”.

“It is clear that the impact of the COVID situation is affecting all families.”

Mr Clark said FSC’s COVID response plan included cost cutting measures on subcontracting, procurement, maintenance and non-essential spending.

“These initiatives together have proved successful and added together, are on target to achieve the defined results.”

He said the reinstatement of salaries was done after a review of the COVID response plan.

“This has been completed and as part of the review, a decision was taken to reinstate pay for all staff.”
