THE Fiji Sugar Corporation is looking at reducing shift workers at the Lautoka mill from four to three in a 24 hour period from this year.

In an internal email to staff yesterday, senior supervisors at the Lautoka mill were informed of the proposed changes.

“In light of the introduction of the three shift group this year, we envisage that a group will fall out as a result of this arrangement,” the e-mail said.

Supervisors have been asked to identify employees who will not be on shift work.

In response to queries on the fate of affected workers, CEO Graham Clark said FSC “constantly review and discuss options to optimize our business.” he said.
