Since Taiwan President Tsai Ying-wen’s last visit to the Marshall Islands about a month ago, Taiwan’s strengthened efforts to provide agricultural and livestock assistance there, and to other allied nations in the south Pacific, had so far proved fruitful. At the end of October through to early November, Ms Tsai visited three south Pacific ally nations — the Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, and the Solomon Islands.
The annual inter Samoa talks is scheduled to be held in Apia this week. This was confirmed by Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi during his weekly press conference. When asked if the issue of American Samoa setting up an office in Samoa would be among the topics discussed, Mr Tuilaepa said the issue was not as simple as it sounded.
MORE than 100 secondary school students have left Tarawa on Nauru Airlines for their long Christmas break with their families in the Line Islands. Education secretary Kaato Neeti told Radio Kiribati News the aircraft, chartered by the Ministry of Education, was expected to arrive in Christmas Island yesterday after flying through Nauru and Samoa. Ms Neeti said students from Fanning and Washington islands would then board LC Aratobwa to their respective islands from Christmas Island.
