FIJIAN rugby players now have another chance to expose their talents internationally.

Thanks to the Fiji Rugby Union and its New Zealand counterpart, a Fijian team called the Vodafone Vanua XV will tour New Zealand in November.

Members of the team are players competing in the Vodafone Vanua Championship.

After discussions with NZR, the FRU said the tour was the outcome of meetings between the two unions as they looked to strengthen collaboration in rugby.

FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor commended the agreement.

“We are grateful and thankful to the NZR for accommodating this tour and for organising the matches against the Heartland XV in New Zealand,” he said.

“We thank NZ Rugby for accommodating the tour of our Fiji U18 team through their schools affiliate.”

The historic tour provides another platform for players playing in the Vodafone Vanua Championship to compete for places in the Swire Shipping Fiji Warriors, Fiji Airways Drua, the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team and ultimately the Flying Fijians.
