From the president’s desk

Greetings to you all!

As Lautoka Football Association counts down towards their OFC Champions League quarter-final this Sunday, I take this opportunity on behalf of Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) to wish the players and officials all the best for the knockout stages. You are not only representing the district, but the entire country. Make everyone proud and fly the Fiji flag high in the Oceania competition.

Following our successful board meeting, it is now confirmed that Fiji FA will host its first football symposium for all districts on April 14. The main objective of the symposium is to educate district officials and coaches on Fiji FA’s philosophy including the importance of possession football. We have made it compulsory for all district presidents and coaches to attend, thus putting everybody in line with Fiji FA’s plans.

After a month’s break, the Vodafone Premier League resumes with two interesting matches to be played this Sunday.

The competition this year is turning out to be more interesting as we note that all the eight participating teams have registered points to their name and none of the team has zero point. Once again, I would like to remind the teams to play fair and maintain the momentum as an OFC Champions League spot is at stake.

The entire football fraternity is in grief after the passing away of Pita Dau. It’s a huge loss. He had been a great footballer and an inspirational leader.

I convey my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to the grieving family and I pray to the Almighty that his soul will rest in peace.

Have a blessed week ahead.
