LETTERS TO THE EDITOR/LEADER
Readers have their say on topics of interest on pages 8 and 9.
# The Leader is on rugby 7s in Dubai and how our team of rookies performed well against better opposition.

PEOPLE
This section is about people, their hopes and aspirations and the challenges they face to get to where they are today.
# TIARE Kumar is a young woman in business. The 22-year-old makes and sells earrings. She said she was inspired by the beautiful work of Margaret Seruvatu, the woman behind the Venami Clay brand. A student at the University of the South Pacific, Tiare ventured into the business during her spare time amid COVID-19 restrictions. She said she juggled online learning and starting the business in the hopes to make money on the side.

POINT OF ORIGIN
At the beginning…
# LAST week we looked at the origins of what was probably the first commercial, and at one point, the largest boatbuilding operation in the country — Charles Whippy and Company Ltd. The shipwright with humble beginnings on Vagadaci beach, Levuka built up steam and eventually moved to the shores of Walu Bay in Suva. At Vagadaci, the Whippy’s vessels were simply slid into the sea once they were completed.

SPORTS
The big one on the back page is about rugby 7s.
# OLYMPIC Games gold medallist Asaeli Tuivuaka has called on the new members of the Fiji 7s team to work together if they want to win this weekend in the Dubai 7s. He said teamwork was important on the international rugby stage, especially in the World Rugby Sevens Series. “We had a good start, but more teamwork and commitment to each other would be the key to going forward in the series,” Tuivuaka said from Capetown, South Africa yesterday.
