Now that wasn’t what many fans expected… but it happened, and the Hurricanes ran in 11 tries to defeat the Fijian Drua 67-5 in their Super Rugby Pacific competition clash earlier this afternoon.

For many fans it was painful watching the Drua succumb to the Hurricanes that way.

But it is back to the drawing board for the Drua as the competition heats up.

Anyway the big one on the front page for Monday, May 9, is an interesting take by a politician.

National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad believes Girmitiyas will be turning in their

graves over how the FijiFirst Government is using the 1987 coup in the girmit celebrations as a “political gimmick”.

Professor Biman Prasad made the statement during a rally at Tadevo in Navua on Saturday night.

He said Government should also apologise to the family of the late Professor Brij Lal — a descendant of girmit for banning him from the country of his birth. The late Prof Lal died at his home in Brisbane, Australia last year.

Drua captain Meli Derenalagi was lost for words last night as they went down to the Hurricanes 67 – 5. “We never executed any of our plays well and we really have to work on them to regroup for the matches ahead. I will be hard on the boys tomorrow as we begin our preparations against Moana Pasifika next week and we really need to work hard,” he said.
