Bula

After that heart-stopping Super Rugby Pacific competition clash between the Highlanders and Fijian Drua, we turn our attention to economics and politics.

The big one on the front page of The Fiji Times’ edition for Monday, May 2 is about economics.

USP economist Dr Neelesh Gounder says the recent economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka should raise the alarm about what bad financial management could do to an economy.

Fiji, he said, should learn a few lessons from this and develop sound strategies to avoid going down the same route in the future.

His comments came in the wake of international media reports that Sri Lanka has officially requested the IMF to bail it out of its worst economic crisis in 70 years.
