  • MINISTER for Home Affairs and Immigration Pio Tikoduadua is looking to include greater stakeholder participation in the fight against drug trafficking and usage in the country.
  • THE Fiji Local Government Officers Association (FLGOA) hopes the retirement age in all municipal councils will also extended to 60 years.

  • FIRST responders in the Western Division and relevant government agencies are continuing to monitor the weather situation, particularly in areas where multiple incidences of flooding were recorded. Commissioner Western Apolosi Lewaqai said initial assessments have been carried out by teams and non-government partners to determine the extent of the damage caused by the widespread floods.
  • A COMMUNITY of vegetable and fruit farmers in the Buabua, Lautoka, are hoping government will address the ongoing flooding issues they have faced over a long period of time.
  • EXPECT more rain throughout the week.
  • COMMISSIONER Western Apolosi Lewaqai is pleading with parents and guardians to monitor their children as heavy rainfall continue over the division. The plea comes after four drowning cases were recorded in the Western Division, three of which were young children.

  • A 14-YEAR-OLD boy is in a critical condition at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital after he was rushed from the Wainibokasi Health Center last Friday with severe inhalation injuries and burns to his face and upper torso while using a bamboo gun (dakai bitu).
  • THE Fiji Bus Operators Association is calling on the coalition government “not to throw the baby out with the bathwater” in terms of the e-ticketing system.
  • BURGLARS made off with around $1000 in cash during a break-in at Jai Santoshi Maa temple in Lovu, Lautoka last Saturday.
