UPRISING Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour was a hive of activity yesterday as people from all walks of life flocked to the resort for the annual Vonu Uprising Festival of Music, Dance and Lights.

Among the crowd was Niuean, Clinton Chapman.

Mr Chapman said his family always looked forward to being part of the festival every year.

This year’s festival was the fourth they had attended.

“This is our fourth time to be part of this festival and today (yesterday) I’ve brought my daughters along with me,” he said.

“For us, it’s just a time to enjoy some local music and entertainment.”

Ninnette Kurabai, who accompanied friends, said the festival could be the perfect time to bring families and friends together.

“For the past three years we have been part of this festival and it’s all about meeting new people,” she said.

Knox Entertainment director Ellana Kalounisiga said more than 500 people were at the festival two hours after the gates were opened at 11am yesterday.

“We were happy with the turnout of people this morning and we have a lot of entertainment for them,” she said.

“The tickets sold out two days prior which is a fantastic achievement and it shows the respect and the need for live performance in Fiji.”

Fifteen artists and bands performed at the festival yesterday.
