Some farmers and vendors in Lautoka have pitched in and donated fresh vegetables to philanthropist Allen Lockington for needy families in the Sugar City.

Mr Lockington said these fresh food supplies were taken directly to those who needed them during these trying times.

“We also have shifted our focus to senior citizens, toddlers and children who have asked us for fresh fruits like bananas, pineapples and oranges and we have attended to these needs,” Mr Lockington said.

“We are blessed that some have donated bags of onions and potatoes and this has helped us meet the demands from needy families.

“We wish to acknowledge donors and individuals who have been donating food packs and items to be given to needy families.”

Mr Lockington said a Lautoka resident also recently donated reusable sanitary packs, face masks and sanitisers.

His team had also cut down on travelling after a surge in cases in Lautoka recently.

The Waiyavi resident said they continued to receive daily demands for basic food items and groceries.

He said this would be of great use considering the rise in daily COVID-19 numbers in the Sugar City.
