ABOUT 200 members of the Senior Citizens Foundation Lautoka branch were treated to free health care and medical services by the University of Fiji medical students yesterday.

Foundation president Pusp Raj said more services for senior citizens would be organised throughout the year.

He said the event was made possible by a Government grant of $9000.

“One of the important aspects of this meet and greet is to encourage the 1800 members to interact and engage in community awareness programs organised by the foundation.

“Even though Fiji is largely made up of a very young population, we should not forget our senior citizens. They paved the way for our society and they should be treated with the utmost respect and accorded the best services.

“We are grateful that they are getting assistance and we hope that they can be able to take care of themselves with the help that they are getting.”
