Fraser ready to face Chand in Nadi boxing program

FRANCO Fraser is aiming for revenge when he takes on Abhay Chand in a 6 x 3 minute bout in the King of the Ring Promotion program at Prince Charles Park in Nadi today.

Fraser and Chand fought once in the amateur division many years back with Chand reigning supreme.

Known as the “Lautoka Slugger” Fraser said things would be different this time.

“Abhay has more professional fights than me,” Fraser said.

“I fought him in amateur and lost on points. It was one of my early bouts and it is my only loss in the whole of my amateur career. He was in the Oceania team going to New Zealand at that time.

“So I have been waiting for a rematch. I think now it will be a bit even. I have got the skills to face him and can’t wait to get into the ring.

“There is no one in my weight category. Johnny Singh and Ronald Naidu both pulled out against me. Now I have to jump up to middleweight division to fight.

“I will have to adjust myself from fighting a short guy to a taller person. I have put on two kilograms for this and will do my talking in the ring.”

Fraser has three wins and a draw while Chand has 16 wins, 14 losses and four draws.

Meanwhile Boxing Commission of Fiji Western Division director Usman Ali said the program would go on despite the late reshuffle of the boxers.
