THE Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) says the local area traffic management (LATM) trials in Nadi has been successful.

The trials were undertaken from late November to this month as a viable solution to traffic congestion in the Jet Set Town.

FRA chief executive officer Jonathan Moore said they had taken a holistic view on the traffic congestion in the Nadi Town centre.

“People need to be aware that this is only the second phase of a multipurpose plans to improve traffic movement in Nadi,” he said.

“With the new route in place, the public are spending less time in traffic jam which gives opportunity for them to spend more time with their families.

“We have spoken to a lot of commuters and they say that it takes far less time for them to drive in and out of the town centre.”
