THE Fiji Roads Authority is impressed with the ongoing works by their two contractors — Higgins Fiji and Dayals Quarries involved in the S3-4 lane road project between the Rewa Bridge in Nausori and 9 Miles.
FRA chief executive officer Jonathan Moore visited the project site on Friday and said he was impressed by the work of the two contractors.
“These two contractors are far quicker with far better quality of delivery and responsiveness than our previous contractors,” Mr Moore said.
“We have about 230 workers carrying out works on this important project. Work is anticipated to be completed by June this year, weather permitting.”
He said once completed, this would make a massive difference and it would ease the traffic congestion between the Suva-Nausori corridor.
Meanwhile, FRA general manager Central Aram Goes said FRA was arranging a more comprehensive transportation study that extended to areas beyond the Suva Central Business Development to take into consideration the proposed large-scale rezoning and redevelopment plans through the greater Suva area.
He added plans were in the pipeline for FRA to carry out roadworks at Milverton Rd and Kasanji St in Suva under the SARUP 2 Project of works.
According to FRA, the SARUP 2 Project has 19 roads to be reconstructed in Suva and will take up to two years to complete.
