Fiji Ports Corporation Limited recently had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC).
In its social media platform, the FPCL expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who are working in collaboration to ensure that Fiji, like many other ports in the world, are connected through the Maritime Single Window, which was adopted by the IMO’s Facilitation Committee.
The implementation of the Maritime Single window through the FAL convention will see that data exchange becomes mandatory in ports around the world.
This enters into force on January 1, 2024. The move will mark a significant step in the acceleration of digitalization in shipping.
The FPCL also hosted a touring delegation from Solomon Ports, which provided an ideal platform for information sharing and the development of long-term collaboration between Fiji and the Solomon Islands.
The cooperation is significant for FPCL as it embarks on a journey to become the Smart Green Gateway for Trade in the Pacific Region.
FPCL stated that while there had been significant progress in terms of development and partnering with our stakeholders, there was always more that can be done to elevate the organisation to the next level, which involved commitment and collaborations with port industries throughout the Pacific region and beyond.
