FIVE remand prisoners are on the run after escaping from the Suva Courthouse cell block earlier this afternoon.

Remand prisoners Emosi Baledrokadroka, Niko Talemaitoga, Maika Tovagone, Suliano Rokosuka  and Jonacani Saliva are facing charges for their alleged involvement in separate aggravated robberies and are considered to be high risk.

Fiji Police Force chief operations officer ACP Maretino Qiolevu said tonight that a taskforce was now on the hunt for the five escapees.

He reminded members of the public of the crime of harbouring prisoners.

ACP Qiolevu said an investigation had also been directed to look into the circumstances surrounding the escape of the four from Police custody.

Members of the public are advised to call Crime Stoppers on 919 if they have any information regarding their whereabouts.
