Viseisei Sai Health Centre received a gift of $5000 from the Reddy Foundation to help it buy medical equipment.
The cheque was handed to the centre’s trust chairman, Rajat Gyaneshwar, by Reddy Foundation trustee Shaneel Padarth in Lautoka last Friday.
“We are very grateful to the Reddy Foundation for supporting us as there isn’t much support available, especially in places like Fiji, for organisations like ours,” Mr Ganeshwar said.
“Medical equipment, health drugs and additional services that people require primarily are what the funds being donated today will mostly be focused on.”
He said the health centre had been working with international medical teams to organise outreach camps, the most recent being the one held in Ra.
“An example of this is, last October a group of about 65 to 70 medical personnel came from Australia and New Zealand and we provided outreach services to the public at Ra Maternity, Ba market bure, Keiyasi Hospital and Viseisei Sai Health Centre.
“A total of 500 people around these areas were able to see specialists.
“Because Fiji is a small country that lacks resources, any donations to the health sector would be very useful to the people of Fiji.”
Mr Padarth said they had been working with the health centre for years.
