Former students offer prayers of comfort

FORMER students of St Joseph’s Secondary School in Suva yesterday gathered at the Holy Family Parish in Labasa to offer prayers for trainee pilot Merelesita Lutu, who was on board the Cessna 172 aircraft that was reported missing in the North earlier this week.
Tears were shed during the prayer session as former students remembered Ms Lutu, who was a former student of SJSS.
The prayer session turned emotional when Maria Kaukimoce, also a mother of a pilot, offered prayers of protection for Merelesita and flying instructor Iliesa Tawalo.
“It’s definitely not an easy time for the families and our prayers are with them,” she said.
“My daughter is also a pilot for Fiji Link and I know what it feels like to hear such news.
“Our prayers will remain with them and their families no matter what happens.”
Led by social worker and human rights commissioner Selina Lee Wah, the group remained positive that their prayers would comfort the affected families.
“We may be small in numbers at the prayer session but we believe in a big God who will comfort the families and relatives,” she said.
The two went missing on Monday after the Pacific Flying School’s Cessna 172 aircraft failed to land at the Labasa Airport after it returned from Savusavu.
